JOB DESCRIPTION: Campaigns Project Worker
Speak Out in Hounslow is recruiting a Campaigns Project Worker. The post is for 16 hours a week at £16.95 per hour
(before tax, NI and pension contribution). This post is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund for 2 years until
December 2027.
The Project Worker will report to the Campaigns and Advice Project Co-ordinator and the Co-Director.

Outline of the role
Organise Mystery Shops to ensure LD members receive great services from statutory and other organisations. Provide
timely feedback to service providers to help them improve their provision for LD members.
Organise and run the monthly Speak Out campaigns meetings. Support members with the LD Partnership Board
meetings.
Support members to take part in and report back on campaigns at Borough level, Londonwide, and UK level with the aim
of improving services for LD adults.
Support members to take part in and report back on consultations at Borough level, Londonwide, and UK level with the
aim of improving services for LD adults.
Contribute to the Advice and Advocacy Service by assisting with providing general advice to people with learning
disabilities and/or autism and their parents/carers and application support.

We are looking for an individual who can support our members with learning disabilities and/or autism to stand up for
themselves, share their opinions and engage fully in the local community.
As you’d expect... good organisation skills, communication skills and interpersonal skills are vital. We are looking for
someone with a good understanding of the issues adults with learning disabilities and/or autism face. Your role is to
support them to Speak Out and increase their visibility as community members.
Person Specification
1) Demonstrate your experience in working with a range of adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.
2) Show a thorough understanding of the barriers and issues they face engaging in community life.
3) Demonstrate your experience in supporting learning disabled and/or autistic people to run user led campaigns.
4) Show your experience in supporting individuals to help themselves.
5) Prove effectiveness in monitoring and reporting on projects outcomes ongoing and by monitoring deadlines.
6) Show a competence in IT skills. Use social media (Facebook and Twitter) to promote successes for your projects.
7) Demonstrate your experience in supporting people to attend and run meetings, including agenda setting and minutes.
8) Demonstrate strong relationship building with individuals, others organisations within a borough and Londonwide.
Please note, if you do not have direct experience working with people with learning disabilities and/or autism, you
are still encouraged to apply if your skills and experience are transferrable.
